2022 Homes by Architects Tour, Minnesota
Saturday & Sunday, September 17-18
Home #1 / Cottage Gables, Deephaven
What a show stopper! We were lucky enough to work as a team with a handful of talented architects and builders on this project. The homeowners were very involved in the design process and had a vision, which was beautifully executed by Rehkamp Larson Architects, Kyle Hunt & Partners, and many other talented designers and companies. The design style is a “Modern European Cottage”, with a mix of modern and traditional elements that you don’t always see in Minnesota! Scott Amundson Photography was able to successfully captured all of the blended elements perfectly. It’s a timeless design that you don’t want to miss!.
Tickets to the tour can be found here.
Let’s Talk About the Exterior
Front Entry:
Greydon sandstone was used on the entry stoop and pathway which lends to the natural feeling the homeowners desired.
The custom cedar and metal fence was built to feel light and airy. It has the charm of a European farmstead.
Plantings and Green Roof:
The mixture of plant species and design styles add texture without overwhelming the spaces. Above the sunroom addition is a green roof which was installed for esthetics off of the owners suite and for natural insulation.
Pool:
A custom concrete swimming pool was designed and installed using a natural Greydon sandstone coping and grass surround. The pool house has an attached outdoor shower and space for dining.
Looking back at the sunroom / porch addition with a new green roof for natural insulation providing year-round color off of the owners suite on the second floor.
Patio:
Irregular Greydon sandstone patio that flows into the grass and provides a walkway to spa and pool area.
Green Roof:
Mixture of succulents and grasses cover the green roof for year-round color, texture, and insulation.
Owners suite epa wood deck and green roof overlooking the backyard pool and spa.
What a project, huh?! Green roofs are becoming more and more popular. If you are interested in learning more about the installation process, check out our blog from last fall!
We hope to see you at the 2022 Homes by Architects Tour this year!
