Lincoln Danforth was initially brought to the site by the architect for a meet and greet with the clients. At that time, it was an empty lot with many old overgrown trees/brush and interesting topography. Both clients are originally from foreign countries and travel the world quite often so there was some interesting and fun ideas injected right from the start. The clients chose great materials as part of the house construction and that led to the use of complimenting stone for retaining walls, steps, walkways, etc.
A long linear retaining wall was installed right along the lake side setback (parallel to the pool) to maximize the game lawn behind the pool deck. Granite stairs cut through the retaining wall down to the lake and dock. To balance additional soils on site and meet a client request, some significant grading was done in an open part of the yard to create enough green space for soccer and other outdoor games.
A beautiful paver auto court leads to a welcoming staircase and sidewalk around the house to get to the Lakeside pool house and pool deck. The lines and vision for this site were driven heavily from the architecture of the house and interesting style the homeowners possess.
